Student Visa
The student visa is issued at the same time as Study Permit.
To apply for a Student Visa, you must be:
- a Minor (below 18-year-old in Ontario but must have a Parent or Legal Guardian or Custodian in Canada. But for a 17-year-old minor, the custodian may NOT be required subject to the discretion of the immigration officer).
- an Adult
Study Permit
The study permit is issued at the same time as the Student Visa. It is a Written Authorization (by an immigration officer) allowing a Foreign individual to study in Canada.
Required documents to apply for a Study Permit:
- Proof of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institute (DLI) in Canada
- Proof of Identity
- Proof of Financial Support
- If the study period in Canada is LESS than 1 year, proof of Financial Support for this study period
- If the study period in Canada is MORE than 1 year, proof of Financial Support ONLY for the first year of study

- Responsibilities as a student in Canada
- Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) –
- issued by Quebec Government
- for study program longer than 6 months in Quebec
- Custodian Declaration (for minors only)
