The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is designed to help skilled workers in a skilled trade become permanent residents in Canada.
Who the Program Is For
The FSTP is intended for skilled workers who have experience in a skilled trade and who wish to become permanent residents of Canada.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the FSTP, you must meet certain language requirements and have at least two years of full-time paid work experience (or an equivalent amount of part-time experience) in a skilled trade within the past five years. You must also meet the job requirements for your skilled trade as outlined in the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Exemptions may be granted for individuals with a Certificate of Qualification in their skilled trade, which is issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.
In addition, you must have a valid full-time job offer for at least one year in Canada or a Certificate of Qualification in your skilled trade.
